Here are a few of the things we look for when we invite a Coach to be a part of the Testive team:

EXPERTISE

All of our Coaches have scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT or SAT, many have attended Ivy League schools and all have graduated with academic distinction. They’re ready to teach your child the lessons they’ve learned about the value of goal setting, dedication to the work, reflection on mistakes and self-motivation.

COMMUNICATION

Great mentors have a knack for putting complex ideas into relatable terms and offering feedback in a constructive way. Our Coaches are excellent at communicating concepts, giving advice for improvement, setting clear performance expectations and reporting progress to everyone involved in your child’s success.

ENTHUSIASM

It’s important that your child not only gets the tools they need to succeed, but also that they connect with what their learning. Our Coaches have a wide variety of interests, from sports to music to computer programming and love to find ways to relate their lessons to whatever your child is into.

EMPATHY

Our Coaches understand that not every family shares the same story–that’s why they are personally invested in understanding who your child is as an individual, where they’re coming from and what they need to stay motivated and confident.

ADAPTABILITY

Being a great Coach is all about having a flexible mind and a flexible schedule. Our Coaches thrive off of coming up with great ideas in the moment and responding in a positive way to unexpected challenges.

“Will is doing a tremendous job with my son. I appreciate that he has quickly formed a relationship, holds him accountable and challenges him to do his best. ”

–Jeff C.

Why Is Testive Coaching Better Than A Tutor Or A Course?

Watch this short video to understand why spending 30 minutes once a week working with a Testive Coach is more efficient and effective than hiring a traditional private tutor or enrolling in a test prep class.

What Happens During A Weekly Testive Coaching Session?

LEARNING

Using the data from Testive learning software, your Coach will understand and adapt their lesson plan to your child’s biggest challenges from the previous week’s content. Your Coach will guide your child through problem areas so they have a better grasp of the material.

PLANNING

Together, they’ll come up with a plan of action for the upcoming week. Your Coach will work with your child to create a practice schedule they can commit to and which your Coach will hold them accountable to.

MENTORSHIP

If your child needs advice on overcoming testing jitters or could just use a pep talk after a hard week at school, your Coach is there to help. This is an opportunity for your teen to connect with a role model who has been where they are.

But an equally important part of Coaching happens between sessions.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Your Coach monitors when your child logs into Testive’s software and answers practice questions throughout the week. If your child doesn’t stick to the plan or appears to be struggling, your Coach will help them stay on track via text message check-ins and words of encouragement.

PROACTIVE CURRICULUM-BUILDING

As your child uses the Testive learning software, your Coach receives information on their performance throughout the week and reviews your child’s notes on where they are most challenged. This allows your Coach to develop a learning plan ahead of each session that’s tailored precisely to your child’s needs. That means less time playing catch-up from the previous week, more time engaged in productive work that results in faster progress toward your testing goals.
