How does Testive work?
There are two parts to Testive. The first is our FREE prep software developed at MIT. It has adaptive practice questions for the SAT, New SAT and PSAT, and ACT. All questions are available to absolutely everyone.
The second is our coaching program. While our prep software is great for helping students practice, our coaches really help students reach their full potential by providing motivation and expert guidance along the way. Coaching sessions are held over video chat. We offer monthly plans for this program.

Testive Coaching is a personalized SAT/ACT prep program that pairs students with 99th percentile scoring coaches for 1-on-1 learning, motivation and accountability. With Testive Coaching, students do all of their work on their personalized learning software developed at MIT and meet with their coach via video chat on the student’s time from anywhere.
During coaching sessions, coaches may cover specific content, develop or recalibrate an action plan, and/or coach on time management or anxiety, amongst other things.
The most important part of a coaching session actually occurs before the meeting. Students generally work 4-9 hours per week on Testive’s platform. As the students use the platform, their coach will receive data automatically. This allows the coach to develop a learning plan ahead of each session. Our coaching sessions are typically 30-60 minutes once a week, but pack as much learning into them as a typical 90- minute session with other SAT/ACT prep methods.
The average student’s Testive Coaching program lasts four months, but we’ve seen success with shorter and longer programs. Ultimately, our recommended program duration depends on your child’s desired test date, proximity to score goal, amount of free time, and learning style.
Matching Students With Coaches
Building a strong connection between each student and his or her coach is the first step to success.
First, we narrow it down to only the coaches whose schedules agree with your schedule.
Secondly, we match a student based on shared interests and personality fit.
Lastly, we listen to you. Every student has a unique learning style, so we’ll do our best to accommodate any requests.
All of our coaches are 99th percentile scorers, educated at schools like Harvard and Princeton, and most importantly, love working with students.
Our approach to students with learning differences is to build a personalized plan suited to them that leverages their skills and builds around their weaknesses. We have a few pieces of tech that are especially useful for students with learning disabilities: for dyslexia, we have guided videos walking through all practice questions that include writing, spoken-word, and video. For ADHD, our practice sessions can be scheduled extremely short to accommodate faster temperaments, or longer to build stamina. Parents are updated weekly by default, so it’s easy to determine quickly whether the program is working out, and exactly how well.

Money Back Guarantee
We offer a 14-day, no questions asked, money back guarantee*. In addition, after the two week window you can cancel at any time and you will not be charged for future months of the program. *excludes our one-month bootcamp program.
Every time a student misses a committed study day, his or her coach is immediately notified. Our coach will reach out to the student right away to determine if this was just a one-off situation or if the student’s learning plan needs to be recalibrated. If a student develops a pattern of missing commitments, our coach will notify the student’s parents and set up a video session to get the student back on track.
We’re so sure our learning philosophy and coaching process work that we publish all results from students who have gone through our program. We’ve seen hundreds of students master the SAT/ACT and exceed their and their parents’ expectations in our program. Not convinced? Check out what some other parents and students have said about Testive Coaching.
The first step is to set up a 10-minute parent call so you can determine if Testive Coaching is the right fit. If it is, we offer a free 30-minute coaching session to your child.
Testive’s personalized learning platform includes over 3,000 adaptive practice questions and review videos, and 60+ lesson plans. This is free to everyone.
When a student has answered enough practice questions in a category (about 10-15) they get a score prediction that is accurate within +/- 50 points of their SAT results. Our long term studies have shown that Testive’s score predictions are as accurate as any practice test can be.
Using Only the Software
Solely using the software is best for students who can consistently motivate themselves to study, stay focused on their weakest areas, and reflect deeply on their wrong answers. However, we’ve found that mentorship is a powerful learning tool and that motivation and accountability are best served through human interaction, which we provide through our coaching program.
Since the College Board does not license its SAT/ACT questions for use by private companies, the questions on our learning platform are written by testing experts. We also offer analysis and scoring of 1,700 past SAT questions from the College Board’s Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd Edition using our Blue Book uploader tool. Similarly, we also offer free analysis and scoring of the 5 past ACT exams made available in The Real ACT Prep Guide, 3rd Edition using our Red Book uploader tool.
