What are your main duties and responsibilities at Testive?

I am a full time intern and developer at Testive and am currently working on a lot of the back-end code!

What’s your favorite part about working at Testive?

I absolutely love the environment and work culture here. It’s clear that everyone on the team takes their work very seriously, but we still manage to keep a fun working environment. It’s great to be able to chat and joke amongst ourselves throughout the day during work since the team is always working together in the same place, and that creates a really cool familial setting that I would never expect to find. Who says work can’t be fun?

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

Outside of work, I am working on a whole bunch of personal projects! One of my main passions is game design and development. I am currently gathering a small team of other developers to build our first ever commercial game. It’ll take many years of hard work, but I’m confident we’ll get there! Another hobby of mine is traditional animation. As a huge fan of animated media, I am also working with another team as project leader and animator to create our very own original web-cartoon series! If it ever gets completed, be sure to be on the lookout for it!

What’s your favorite food?

I don’t think I would ever be able to survive without some perfectly prepared steaks, cooked medium rare.

What’s your favorite movie and why?

I have seen way too many unforgettable movies to be able to pick a favorite. However, I think the good old classic Disney movie, The Lion King will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve watched it too many times to count.

What quote do you try to live your life by?

“It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.” ~ Bill Gates

Are you a cat or a dog person?

Definitely cats. Especially with a cat at home that never stops invading my room. A really fat and lazy one.

Mac or PC?

PC always!

If you had one piece of advice to give college-bound students, what would it be?

As a current college student myself who entered not too long ago, I still know very clearly what it’s like! High school was always about fitting in and being with the “cool” kids, worrying about teenage drama, etc. (and passing classes). However, those aren’t really problems you’ll face in college.

It’s a great way to “start over”. You’ll be meeting new people, find new friends, learn new things, and it’s an opportunity to re-invent yourself! If you haven’t already, college is the perfect time to find your identity and figure out who and what you want to be for the rest of your life. Of course, this doesn’t mean you have to throw away what you are and your friends from high school by any means if you don’t want to. Rather, it’s a chance for you to be able to become a new and better you without anything holding you back. (I still hang out with all my high school friends, by the way).

Finally, the single most important piece of advice I would give to everyone going into college is that if an opportunity ever comes up for something you’d like to try and do, pursue it without any hesitations. I’ve had a lot of cool experiences in college and it’s all because I simply decided to do it. Take any opportunities that are presented to you that might help you in your career path. It’ll really help you down the road. Even just meeting people can get you pretty far! Short version: Just get out there and present yourself!
